Review : Two Moms in the Raw

I’ve heard a lot about products from Two Moms in the Raw but until recently I have never tried them.. boy have I been missing out!

All of their products are..

  • Organic
  • Non-GMO
  • Gluten, Soy, and Dairy Free
  • Kosher
  • Vegan
  • Raw

In addition to being raw and not heated above 118 degrees they soak and germinate the ingredients used so the enzymes and nutrition is easily able to be digested and processed by the body.

I tried their Blueberry Granola bar, which was delicious! One bar contained 240 calories, and kept me full for hours. It wasn’t overly dry like some raw bars, and had tons of flavor. For the money I paid I would say it was definitely worth it.

It was made only using 13 ingredients, all of which I could pronounce – wooo! I will definitely be buying these again, I’m looking forward to trying some of their other products. In addition to making raw bars they also make crackers, cereals, and truffles. If you’re interested in learning more about the company check them out on Twitter or like them on Facebook!

Happy Tuesday!

Have you ever tried any products from Two Moms in the Raw? What did you think?

S is for…

Happy Wednesday!

Just a little update since I’ve had a few people checking in to see how im feeling. I’m feeling a TON better, and hope that I continue to do so. I’m still really tired all of the time, but I think that all of the extra sleep that I have been getting is doing my body a lot of good. I didn’t realize how run down I was until it was too late. But in the future I am going to have to make sure that I take better care of the ol’ fuel tank so this doesn’t happen.

Moving along to the best thing that has happened to me today…

Ahhhh fresh strawberries. One of the many reminders that spring has sprung, even though mother nature may have not caught wind of that yet!  Today I was able to enjoy a whole bunch of fresh strawberries, and they were dee-lish!

So to honor my case of strawberry fever I give you some yummy recipes featuring this star ingredient!

Vegan Strawberry Mouse

Raw Strawberry Cheesecake

Strawberry Shortcake

Strawberry, Cucumber, Mint Salad

Chocolate Strawberry Shortcake Cupcakes!! (Oh yes!!)

Speaking of cupcakes, do you remember when I made my own Strawberry Shortcake cupcakes?

I totally forgot that I made these, they were so cute! 🙂

Question of the day – What is your favorite way to enjoy strawberries?

Oh What a Night

The night I am talking about is Harry Potter movie premier of course.

And it was indeed magical!

As an extreme Harry Potter nerd, I was beyond excited to see this movie! While I still enjoy the books more than the movies, it was fantastic. The special effects were incredible! Are you a harry potter fan? Have you seen the latest installment?

Now for reviews of the snackage I was packin as promised! In my Halloween goodie bag Earth Mama sent to me at school, she got me one of the new Larabar flavors.

With me I packed the new Chocolate Chip Peanut Butter Larabar.

Review Alert!

I was super excited to pack this flavor, seeing as how the Peanut Butter Cookie variation that Larabar makes is one of my all time favorites. Adding a little chocolate lovin could only make it better!

MMMM!

ingredients Dates, peanuts, chocolate chips and salt

The verdict?

This flavor was sooooo good It was perfectly moist and chewy, and it wasnt overly chocolatey. This flavor is one of my new favorites right along side Peanut Butter Cookie. While this bar was a little higher in calorically than I am used to, it made a satisfying snack that kept me full right through breakfast the next morning. I would definitely munch on this flavor again!

Tomorrow is thanksgiving!

What are you making for your thanksgiving feast?

I bought a few packages of Gardein products which I plan on using to make something really yummy!

Any suggestions? Have you ever tried any of Gardein products?

For the next few days im back home and enjoying every minute of it! Im gearing up to do some serious black friday shopping after thanksgiving, and to take a few Zumba classes with my old crew! :)know a lot of you have been asking me about how my Zumba classes are going, so I plan on doing an update within the next few days!

Happy Wednesday!

Question of the day – What are you making special for Thanksgiving this year?

Yes, it’s funky indeed.

TGIS!

(Thank goodness its saturday!)

And what a saturday it is. I have already gotten up and gone to my 9:30 am Zumba class, ran to the bank, stopped at the grocery store, did a load of laundry and called Virgin Mobile since I am having some problems with my new phone?

Oh I didnt show you my new phone? Here it is! 🙂

Snazzy right? Its kind of like a blackberry.

The reason why I went with Virgin Mobile is because with their 25$ a month plan I can get unlimited internet, texting and email. Pluss 300 or so minutes a month. This is great for me since I really dont talk on my phone much, I have my house phone for that. I am a huge texter though (isnt everyone these days?!) Do you have a cell phone? What kind do you have?

While I think that texting is much quicker and sometimes more convient I really think that its impersonal. I much rather would be able to call someone up, or even better write a letter! I love getting mail! Do you like to text or talk?

The one thing though that im not liking is that I am recieving majorly junky service! It was working great and all was fine, but now im not getting any text messages at all… and the phone is freezing! I feel so cut off.. ahh! Lets hope I can get this fixed soon!

Review Alert!

You all know I am a HUGE fan of Funky Monkey Snack Companies freeze dried fruit snacks. They are so yummy, and good for you to boot! Well I was able to sample some new flavors, Mango OJ and Purple Funk.

The Mango OJ flavor was just ok. Nothing too special. It had a orange-y flavor, but it was a teensy bit bitter which I did not dig at all!

Purple Funk indeed! I was not crazy about this flavor at all. The taste reminded me of chlorine or something, and left a funky after taste. I would definitely NOT eat this flavor again. I would much rather eat one of the other flavors that I know and love (bananamon anyone?)

The verdict? Well overall I was completely disappointed with two of these flavors. Since I like every other one of Funky Monkey’s flavors I figured that these would be great too. While I wont buy these again, I will definitely be buying and recommending all of their other flavors (you can find reviews for the other flavors on my Product Reviews page!)

On the food front, tons of great salads have been in my life lately.

Including this salad beast.

Spinach and romaine mix with peas, carrots, 1/2 a cucumber for the base. Then on top I had a smidgen of spicy black bean hummus, 1 piece of whole wheat pita and a couple pieces of falafel, all from Ghossains. Ahh Im in love!

Doesnt it look pretty! It reminds me of Hey Arnold a little bit haha!

I also have some fun plans for later today! After I finish up doing some chores around the house im going to be ordering some stuff from the Zumba website. Yay for online shopping! After my online shopping, Im going to be going out with my friend Aarica before work to get something special done. Can you guess what it is?

Also thanks for all the emails letting me know about my pictures not showing up properly, I forgot to renew my photobucket account. Oops! But were all renewed now, so everything is back to normal. Also I got an email saying that my blog page takes FOREVER to load. Is anyone else having that problem? I try to keep it as clutter free as possible, and keep links and things to a minimum. If anyone else is having this problem too, let me know!

Enjoy your weekend everyone! 🙂

Question of the day – What are your plans for this weekend?

Its the perfect day..

Nothings standing in my way..

Its the perfect day, nothing can go wrong!

Ahh I had the most relaxing day ever today! 🙂

After sleeping in I got up and lazily made myself a bowl of Blueberry Muffin Oatmeal, which I proceeded to eat while I watched Gilmore Girls. What is one of your favorite television shows?

Usually soon after eating breakfast I make my way to the gym to do some cardio and lifting. But today I thought I would shake it up a little bit! Instead I got ready and went out and did a little shopping. Including a pit stop at my favorite bookstore to catch up on my magazine reading and google reader.

Who knew that blog reading was such hungry work? Luckily I packed a snack with me in my new laptop bag to tide me over…

Miho was such a sweetie and sent me this bar for my birthday a couple of months ago, she picked it out because it is my favorite color… Green!

Review Alert!

First off right away after I opened up the package I noticed that it was majorly oily. What is up with that? It got all over my hands (not to mention my camera) which made taking pictures quite challenging. I really enjoyed the texture however, it was nice and smooth and there weren’t any huge chunks of nuts or seeds in it. The flavor was wonderful too, I have become a huge fan of spirulina since I have been adding it to my Groovy Green Oats.

Check the oily-ness!

Ingredients – Cashews, Dates, Agave Nectar, Almonds, Spirulina Powder, Sprouted Flax Seed.

The verdict? While I really enjoyed the flavors of this bar, I did not really care for all of the extra oil. Plus it was on the larger side and had tons of calories. Usually when I grab a bar it will be in between meals or after a workout. This was particularly heavy on my stomach. Good though!

After finishing up at borders I stopped on the way home at Ghossains – the cutest little middle eastern store in town – to pick up some new goodies.

The huugest tub of raw dates, whole wheat pita, and falafel mix (cant wait to try this!).

Also I was hungry! And I needed to get some food in my belly before my Zumba class so I picked up a tub of baba ganoush. Over the weekend I attempted to make my own baba ganoush using a recipe I found in Vegetarian Time, but it turned out awful! Not worth even showing on the blog!  But I still cant help but wonder where I went wrong. Ah well, I will try it again soon.

Then it was off to Zumba for me! Ahh how I love it! Today’s class was glorious and I loved every single minute of it! Did I mention that I cant wait until I can get Zumba certified? Its in 40 days… but whose counting. 😉

Immediately after Zumba I changed workout tops and made my way to the gym to do some late night lifting and some more cardio. What did I work today? Legs and abs. Ahhh how I love leg days! But I’m learning to love arm days too! What is your favorite part of your body to train?
